Free to write it all down. Paid to know what you wrote down.
Cataloguing is unlimited on every plan, recalls reach everyone, and you can export the whole binder whenever you like. What a paid plan buys is depth: the manual, the part numbers, the lifespan, the warranty — on every item instead of three.

Why it is split this way
Cataloguing is free and unlimited because the catalog is the point. Somebody filing an obscure Japanese mini-split is doing the rest of us a favour — the next person who owns one gets the answer faster.
Export is free because a binder you cannot carry out is not a binder. Recalls are free because charging for a safety notice would be a strange way to behave.
Three dossiers on the free plan, chosen by you, because nobody upgrades for a difference they have only read about. Spend one on the water heater and see what shows up.
The fair-use numbers are printed above rather than buried. Properties is priced per door instead of per account, so a six-door landlord is not charged like a forty-door one.
